Five minutes. Around the Nördschleife. Let that sink in for a moment.
Has it sunk in? Okay, now we head on to the details: Porsche tracked its vaunted 919 Hybrid Evo racecar for this event. It was driven by by five-time Nürburgring 24 Hours winner Timo Bernhard. I don’t know who that is, either.
The former record, coincidentally, was also held by Porsche. It was a Rothmans Porsche 956C driven by Stefan Belloff. The record time of 6:11.13 stood for 35 years. Until this Bernhard chap shattered it with a mind boggling 5:19.55. How did that happen? Well, on one straight it registered a speed of 368 kph. three-freaking-hundred-bloody-sixty-eight kilometers per hour!
But we won’t let you imagine the pace. You can watch it below since I’m still lost for words. It still hasn’t sunk in.
