Flooring the throttle on any sports car inside a tunnel is every petrol head’s fantasy. And doing the same with a Ferrari is like spending the night with Kelly Brook. However, it’s okay to lose control while doing Kelly. It would be another story if you lost control while flooring a Ferrari.
One chap has driven his Ferrari California straight to the river as he lost control after an overtaking manoeuvre. His car had to be dragged out by a lorry as crowds gathered round. Roadside Cameras showed him in Brazil’s paradise of Guaruja, dubbed the Pearl of the Atlantic. Hollywood stars are known to have holidays here. This particular incident looks like a Hollywood car chase scene gone wrong. Not only was it wrong, but it was also illegal.
Witnesses have, erm, witnessed the driver participating in a street race with friends in the two other cars. The police have not confirmed the claim, though. The other car is a Porsche and that it was just a coincidence it was there… Speeding… after the Ferrari.
The chap going the other direction had to brake hard to avoid a head-on collision.
If you buy a supercar and you are not a great driver you must expect that one day, you may end up in a tree, or in flames, or somewhere a supercar is not supposed to be.
Good thing though, the driver is unharmed; although I’m almost sure he looked no different from Animal Planet’s River Monsters after being helped out of the car covered in reeds.
The Ferrari California is worth nearly £200,000 and is thought to have been written off.
