Porsche has just announced that they will no longer be manufacturing the Porsche 918 Spyder after only 21 months of production.
I am a little sad about this as I was hoping that there would be a few more kicking around, but I am not going to hold my breath.
The Porsche 918 Spyder was first shown off at the Geneva car show in 2010 and the audience absolutely loved it. That very same year Porsche gave the green light to produce the Porsche 918 Spyder but the numbers will be limited, and we started to see the first Porsche 918s in 2013.
The Porsche 918 managed to do the Nurburgring in 6 minutes and 57 seconds and became the fastest production car with a global homologation. It is a stunning car and is jaw dropping, and I have yet to see one on the roads. Yes, I have seen one at Goodwood but that does not count.
However, its not all doom and gloom as Porsche have said they are working on the successor, so we shall sit back and wait but in the meantime the Porsche 918 is going down in my book of the greatest hyper cars.
