Jay Leno is a petrol head an owns some cracking cars, but he has a look around the Porsche 918 Spyder, which is a hybrid super car. It sounds stunning and looks beautiful.
Its 887 BHP but it starts getting complicated with the electric-powered cars, and as you will hear everything on this Porsche, 918 Spyder is bespoke for this car. It’s made completely out of Carbon fibre, including all the panels and the chassis. The Porsche 918 Spyder weighs in at 1634 kgs and does between 10 and 60 miles on the battery charge.
The electric motors power, all the wheels and the exhausts poke out nicely out of the back and is the only car with exhausts where they are, which is a very nice touch.
The transmission is a seven speed PDK from the 911 and they flip it over to lower the center of gravity, and as you can see it really is a stunning Porsche. It has also done a 7:14 at the Nurburgring as well which is pretty damn quick to say the least.
As you could see on the video, you can switch between the electric engine or the combustion engine which gives you the best from both worlds where you get the noise and punch in the back with a combustion engine but when you want or need the Porsche 918 Spyder to be quiet, you can switch it to electric and quite literally creep about.
You will probably start to see that I am a bit of fan of anything Porsche so expect to see a few articles in the future and hopefully soon enough in the “behind the wheel” section of BHP Cars. However, for now, I can just dream and drool over videos and show rooms of Porsche dealers around the world.
If you have any questions or would like to ask myself or Pete a question then, please do so as we love to hear from you. You can also find BHP Cars on Facebook.
